un- (‘না/বিহীন’) উপসর্গ + ligulate; ligulate শব্দটি লাতিন ligula (‘ছোট জিহ্বা/ফিতা’) থেকে উদ্ভূত।

Definition

Having no ligule (the small membranous flap or fringe at the junction of leaf blade and sheath in many grasses); also used more broadly for structures not shaped like a strap/tongue (not ligulate).
