From under- + current; figurative sense developed from the idea of a current flowing beneath the surface.
under- (নিচে/অন্তঃ) + current (স্রোত) থেকে গঠিত; পৃষ্ঠের নিচে প্রবাহিত স্রোতের ধারণা থেকেই রূপক অর্থে ‘গোপন প্রবণতা/অনুভূতি’ অর্থটি বিকশিত হয়েছে।
Definition
Undercurrents are (1) water currents moving below the surface, often in a different direction from surface flow, and (2) hidden feelings, opinions, or influences that are not openly expressed but affect situations.
‘Undercurrents’ বলতে (১) জলের পৃষ্ঠের নিচে চলা স্রোতকে বোঝায়, যা অনেক সময় উপরিভাগের স্রোতের বিপরীত দিকে যায়, এবং (২) এমন গোপন অনুভূতি/মতামত/প্রভাবকে বোঝায় যা প্রকাশ্যে দেখা যায় না কিন্তু পরিস্থিতিকে প্রভাবিত করে।
