Definition
Tunicates are marine chordates whose adults are usually sessile and filter-feed through siphons; their bodies are enclosed in a cellulose-like outer covering called a tunic, and many have a free-swimming larval stage with a notochord.
টিউনিকেট হলো সামুদ্রিক কর্ডেট প্রাণী; প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক অবস্থায় তারা সাধারণত স্থির থেকে সাইফনের মাধ্যমে জল ছেঁকে খাদ্য গ্রহণ করে। তাদের দেহের বাইরে সেলুলোজ-সদৃশ শক্ত আবরণ (টিউনিক) থাকে, এবং অনেক প্রজাতির লার্ভা অবস্থায় মুক্তসাঁতারু পর্যায়ে নোটোকর্ড দেখা যায়।
