A thatcher is a craftsperson who builds or repairs a thatched roof using dry plant materials such as straw, reed, or rushes, laying them in overlapping layers to shed water; the word is also used as a family name.
থ্যাচার বলতে সেই কারিগরকে বোঝায়, যিনি খড়, নলখাগড়া/রিড, ঝোপঘাস ইত্যাদি শুকনো উদ্ভিজ্জ উপাদান দিয়ে স্তর করে সাজিয়ে জল ঝরার উপযোগী ‘থ্যাচ’ (খড়ের/নলের ছাউনি) তৈরি বা মেরামত করেন; শব্দটি পদবী (সারনেম) হিসেবেও ব্যবহৃত হয়।
