From the verb tether (to tie with a rope/chain), from Middle English tederen/tetheren, related to Old Norse tjóðr (“tether”). The noun/gerund tethering is the action of tethering; the tech sense developed later with mobile networking.
‘টেথার’ (দড়ি/শিকল দিয়ে বেঁধে রাখা) ক্রিয়া থেকে এসেছে; মধ্য ইংরেজি tederen/tetheren হয়ে, পুরোনো নর্স tjóðr (“টেথার/বাঁধার দড়ি”) শব্দের সঙ্গে সম্পর্কিত। ‘tethering’ হলো বাঁধার কাজ/প্রক্রিয়া; প্রযুক্তিগত অর্থ (মোবাইল ডেটা শেয়ার) পরে মোবাইল নেটওয়ার্কিংয়ের সাথে বিকশিত হয়।
Definition
Tethering means keeping a person, animal, or object attached to something else with a tether (rope/chain) so it cannot move freely; in technology, it also means sharing a mobile phone’s data connection with another device (like a laptop).
টেথারিং বলতে দড়ি/শিকল ইত্যাদি ‘টেথার’ দিয়ে মানুষ, প্রাণী বা কোনো জিনিসকে কোনো স্থির কিছুর সঙ্গে বেঁধে রাখা বোঝায় যাতে তা স্বাধীনভাবে চলাফেরা করতে না পারে; প্রযুক্তিতে এটি মোবাইল ফোনের ইন্টারনেট সংযোগ অন্য ডিভাইসের (যেমন ল্যাপটপ) সঙ্গে ভাগ করে দেওয়াকেও বোঝায় (মোবাইল টেথারিং)।
