লাতিন tegula অর্থ ‘ছাদের টালি’ থেকে এসেছে; যা এসেছে tegere অর্থ ‘ঢেকে দেওয়া/আবৃত করা’ থেকে।

Definition

A tegula can mean a tiny sclerite (hardened plate) at the base of an insect wing; in archaeology it also refers to a flat Roman roof tile with raised edges that fits with a curved imbrex; in zoology it is also the name of sea snails in the genus Tegula.
