From tail + race (in the sense of a watercourse or channel), originally referring to the channel carrying water away from a mill wheel or turbine; the plural tailraces denotes multiple such channels/sections.
tail (পিছনের/শেষ অংশ) + race (জলপ্রবাহের খাল/চ্যানেল অর্থে) থেকে উদ্ভূত; শুরুতে মিলের চাকা বা টারবাইনের পানি বের হওয়ার নালা/চ্যানেল বোঝাত। tailraces বহুবচনে একাধিক এমন চ্যানেল/অংশ বোঝায়।

Tailraces are the downstream channels or stretches of water that carry water away after it passes through a hydraulic structure (especially hydroelectric turbines), often marked by strong current and turbulence.
টেইলরেস হলো বাঁধ, উইয়ার, লক বা বিশেষ করে জলবিদ্যুৎ টারবাইনের ভেতর দিয়ে পানি যাওয়ার পর যে নিম্নপ্রবাহের খাল/চ্যানেল বা জলপ্রবাহ পানি সরিয়ে নিয়ে যায়; সাধারণত এখানে স্রোত খুব দ্রুত এবং পানি ঘূর্ণায়মান/অশান্ত থাকে।
