Origin & History
From the verb survey (Middle English), via Anglo-French surveier/Old French surveoir, from sur- 'over' + veoir 'to see' (Latin videre). The form surveying is the -ing noun/participle.
survey ক্রিয়াটি মধ্য ইংরেজি থেকে এসেছে; অ্যাংলো-ফরাসি surveier/পুরনো ফরাসি surveoir-এর মাধ্যমে, যেখানে sur- অর্থ ‘উপরে/উপর থেকে’ + veoir অর্থ ‘দেখা’ (লাতিন videre)। surveying হলো ওই ক্রিয়ার -ing যুক্ত রূপ (নাম/বর্তমান participle)।
Definition
Surveying is the science and practice of taking measurements to determine the relative positions of points on or near the Earth’s surface and representing them on plans or maps; more broadly, it can mean closely examining or inspecting something.
