sub- (অর্থ: নিচে/উপ- বা গৌণ) + population (জনসংখ্যা) থেকে গঠিত; subpopulation শব্দের বহুবচন, যা বিশেষ করে পরিসংখ্যান, মহামারিবিদ্যা, পরিবেশবিদ্যা ও সমাজবিজ্ঞানে বেশি ব্যবহৃত।
Definition
Subpopulations are smaller, distinct groups within a larger population, often defined by shared characteristics such as age, sex, ethnicity, location, disease status, or behavior, especially in research and statistics.
Subpopulations (উপজনসংখ্যা) হলো বৃহত্তর জনসংখ্যার ভেতরে থাকা ছোট ও স্বতন্ত্র গোষ্ঠী, যা সাধারণত বয়স, লিঙ্গ, জাতিগত পরিচয়, ভৌগোলিক অবস্থান, রোগ-অবস্থা বা আচরণ ইত্যাদি সাধারণ বৈশিষ্ট্যের ভিত্তিতে নির্ধারিত হয়—বিশেষ করে গবেষণা ও পরিসংখ্যানে।
