Origin & History
From stream + line; the scientific sense developed in fluid mechanics to denote lines tangent to flow velocity (attested from the 19th–20th centuries).
stream (ধারা/প্রবাহ) + line (রেখা) থেকে গঠিত; তরলযান্ত্রিকতায় বেগের স্পর্শক রেখা বোঝাতে এই বৈজ্ঞানিক অর্থ ১৯–২০ শতকে প্রচলিত হয়।
Definition
In fluid dynamics and meteorology, streamlines are curves drawn so that at every point they are tangent to the velocity vector of the flow (fluid or wind), showing instantaneous flow direction; on weather maps they depict wind flow patterns.
তরলগতিবিদ্যা ও আবহাওয়াবিদ্যায় স্ট্রিমলাইন হলো এমন বক্ররেখা যা প্রবাহের (তরল বা বাতাস) প্রতিটি বিন্দুতে বেগ-ভেক্টরের স্পর্শক থাকে—অর্থাৎ তাৎক্ষণিক প্রবাহের দিক নির্দেশ করে; আবহাওয়ার মানচিত্রে এগুলো বাতাসের প্রবাহরূপ দেখায়।
