From stock + holder; stock in the sense of 'shares in a company' plus holder meaning 'one who owns'. The term is attested in business/legal English from the 18th–19th centuries.

Definition
A stockholder is someone (an individual or organization) who owns shares in a corporation and therefore has a financial stake in it, such as receiving dividends (if declared) and possibly voting on certain corporate matters.
স্টকহোল্ডার হল এমন একজন ব্যক্তি বা প্রতিষ্ঠান, যে কোনো কর্পোরেশনের শেয়ার/স্টক মালিকানায় রাখে; ফলে কোম্পানিতে তার আর্থিক স্বার্থ থাকে—যেমন (ঘোষিত হলে) লভ্যাংশ পাওয়া এবং কিছু কর্পোরেট বিষয়ে ভোট দেওয়ার সম্ভাবনা।
