ফরাসি ‘stencil’ শব্দ থেকে (এবং আরও প্রাচীন জার্মানিক উৎসের প্রভাবসহ) এসেছে; বারবার একই নকশা/লেখা ছাপাতে টেমপ্লেট-জাতীয় ছাঁচ হিসেবে ব্যবহারের ধারণার সঙ্গে সম্পর্কিত।
Definition
A stencil is a thin sheet (paper, plastic, metal, etc.) with a design cut out or perforated so that paint/ink can pass through and reproduce the same pattern or letters on another surface; as a verb, it means to apply or print a design using a stencil.
স্টেনসিল হলো (কাগজ/প্লাস্টিক/ধাতু ইত্যাদির) একটি পাতলা শিট, যাতে নকশা বা অক্ষর কাটা/ছিদ্র করা থাকে, ফলে রং বা কালি ওই ফাঁক দিয়ে গিয়ে নিচের পৃষ্ঠে একই নকশা/লেখা বারবার ছাপানো যায়; ক্রিয়া হিসেবে স্টেনসিল দিয়ে নকশা/লেখা ছাপানো বা প্রয়োগ করাকে বোঝায়।
