From Spanish "sisal", named after Sisal, a port in Yucatán (Mexico) through which the fibre was exported; ultimately from a Mayan place name.

Definition
Sisals are the tough, coarse fibres (or items made from them) produced from the leaves of the sisal agave plant, widely used for making rope, twine, sacks, rugs, and matting because they are strong and durable.
সিসাল হলো সিসাল আগাভে (Agave sisalana) গাছের পাতার ভেতর থেকে পাওয়া শক্ত ও মোটা প্রাকৃতিক তন্তু (বা সেই তন্তু দিয়ে তৈরি বস্তু), যা শক্তি ও টেকসই হওয়ায় দড়ি, সুতলি, বস্তা, কার্পেট ও মাদুর তৈরিতে ব্যাপকভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
