From Middle English scabbe, from Old Norse skabb (“scab; mange”), related to Old English sceabb (a skin disease) and ultimately to a Germanic root associated with scratching.

Definition
Scab is the hard, dry crust that forms on skin over a cut or sore as it heals; by extension it can mean a rough crusty deposit, a plant disease called scab, or (informally, offensively) a person seen as a strikebreaker or traitor.
Scab বলতে ক্ষত/কাটা জায়গা শুকোতে গিয়ে ত্বকের ওপর যে শক্ত শুকনো খোসা (পট্টি) তৈরি হয় তা বোঝায়; প্রসারিত অর্থে এটি খসখসে খোসা/আবরণ, উদ্ভিদের এক ধরনের রোগ (স্ক্যাব), অথবা (অপমানসূচক, অনানুষ্ঠানিক) ধর্মঘট ভাঙা ব্যক্তি বা বিশ্বাসঘাতককেও বোঝাতে পারে।
