From rough + cast; ‘cast’ in the sense of ‘to throw’ (as mortar is thrown onto a wall), and by extension ‘a casting/first form’ for a preliminary draft; recorded in English from the early modern period.
rough + cast (cast = ‘ছুড়ে ফেলা/নিক্ষেপ করা’) থেকে; দেয়ালে মর্টার ছুড়ে লাগানোর অর্থে ‘roughcast’ গঠিত, এবং সেখান থেকে ‘প্রাথমিক ঢালাই/প্রথম রূপ’ অর্থে খসড়া বা প্রাথমিক সংস্করণ বোঝাতেও ব্যবহৃত হয়; ইংরেজিতে প্রারম্ভিক আধুনিক যুগ থেকে ব্যবহারের প্রমাণ মেলে।
Definition
Roughcast means either (1) an early draft or preliminary estimate that is not final, or (2) a type of exterior wall finish made by spraying/throwing a mixture of lime or cement and small stones to create a rough texture.
Roughcast বলতে (১) চূড়ান্ত নয়—এমন একটি প্রাথমিক খসড়া/আনুমানিক হিসাব, অথবা (২) দেয়ালের বাইরের অংশে খসখসে টেক্সচার তৈরির জন্য চুন/সিমেন্টের মর্টার ও ছোট কংকর মিশিয়ে ছিটিয়ে/ছুড়ে দেওয়া প্লাস্টারের প্রলেপকে বোঝায়।
