Definition

“Rests” can mean (1) periods of relief from work or activity (sleep/relaxation), (2) a state of stillness/inactivity, (3) supports (e.g., arm rests), (4) musical pauses or the symbols for them, and (5) it is also the verb form meaning ‘he/she/it rests’ (stops, relaxes, lies/leans on, remains, or depends on).
