From Latin respiratio (‘a breathing again; recovery of breath’), from respirare (‘breathe out, breathe again’).
লাতিন respiratio (‘পুনরায় শ্বাস নেওয়া; শ্বাস ফিরে পাওয়া’) থেকে এসেছে; যার মূল respirare (‘শ্বাস ত্যাগ করা, আবার শ্বাস নেওয়া’)।
Definition
Respiration is the biological process in which organisms obtain oxygen and remove carbon dioxide; it includes breathing (external respiration) and cellular respiration, where cells use oxygen to break down nutrients and release energy (ATP).
রেসপিরেশন বা শ্বাসক্রিয়া হলো জীবদেহে অক্সিজেন গ্রহণ ও কার্বন ডাই-অক্সাইড ত্যাগের জৈবিক প্রক্রিয়া; এতে শ্বাস-প্রশ্বাস (বাহ্যিক শ্বাসক্রিয়া) এবং কোষীয় শ্বাসক্রিয়া উভয়ই অন্তর্ভুক্ত, যেখানে কোষ অক্সিজেনের সাহায্যে পুষ্টি ভেঙে শক্তি (ATP) উৎপাদন করে।
