From Middle English and Anglo-French/Old French repeal(er), ultimately from Latin re- (again) + pellere (to drive).
মধ্য ইংরেজি ও অ্যাংলো-ফরাসি/পুরোনো ফরাসি repeal(er) থেকে; মূলত লাতিন re- (আবার) + pellere (তাড়ানো/হটানো) থেকে উদ্ভূত।
Definition
Used mainly in legal and formal contexts to say that a law, regulation, or decision has been officially ended and no longer has legal force (e.g., a repealed law is no longer in effect). It can also (less commonly) mean to recall someone from exile or to drive back/repel.
প্রধানত আইনগত ও আনুষ্ঠানিক প্রেক্ষিতে ব্যবহৃত হয়—কোনো আইন/বিধি/আদেশকে সরকারি বা কর্তৃপক্ষের সিদ্ধান্তে বাতিল করে কার্যকারিতা শেষ করা বোঝায় (যেমন, repealed law আর বলবৎ থাকে না)। কম ব্যবহারে এর অর্থ হতে পারে নির্বাসন থেকে কাউকে ফিরিয়ে আনা বা প্রতিহত/প্রতিরোধ করা।
