re- (‘আবার’) উপসর্গ + enact (‘অভিনয় করা/কার্যকর করা’) থেকে গঠিত; ইংরেজিতে প্রথম ব্যবহার ১৯শ শতকের মাঝামাঝি সময়ে নথিভুক্ত।

To recreate an earlier event by acting it out again—such as a historical battle, a crime scene, or an incident—for realism, education, memory, or investigation.
