From Latin recrīminārī (“to make a countercharge”), from re- (“back, again”) + criminārī (“to accuse, charge with a crime”); via French/Latin forms into English as recrimination, with plural recriminations.

Recriminations are angry counter-accusations exchanged between people or groups, where each side blames the other in response; it can also mean the act of making such counter-charges.
