Origin & History
From radio- (relating to radiation/X-rays) + opacity, ultimately from Latin opacitas ‘shadiness, obscurity’ (from opacus ‘dark’).
radio- (বিকিরণ/এক্স-রে সম্পর্কিত) + opacity (অস্বচ্ছতা) থেকে গঠিত; opacity শব্দটির মূল লাতিন opacitas ‘অন্ধকারাচ্ছন্নতা/অস্পষ্টতা’ (opacus ‘অন্ধকার’ থেকে)।
Definition
Radiopacity is the degree to which a substance prevents X-rays (or similar radiation) from passing through; higher radiopacity makes the material appear white or light on an X-ray or CT image.
রেডিও-অপাসিটি হলো কোনো পদার্থ কতটা মাত্রায় এক্স-রে (বা অনুরূপ ভেদকারী বিকিরণ) ভেতর দিয়ে যেতে বাধা দেয়/শোষণ করে; রেডিও-অপাসিটি বেশি হলে এক্স-রে বা সিটি ছবিতে বস্তুটি সাদা বা হালকা রঙের মতো দেখা যায়।
