proto- (“প্রথম/প্রারম্ভিক/আদি”) উপসর্গ + science (“বিজ্ঞান”) থেকে গঠিত; আধুনিক একাডেমিক লেখালেখিতে কোনো শাস্ত্র/চর্চার প্রারম্ভিক, এখনও পূর্ণ আনুষ্ঠানিকতা না-পাওয়া পর্যায় বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত।
Definition
Protoscience refers to a stage in the development of knowledge where people investigate nature with partially scientific approaches (observation, classification, hypotheses), but before standardized experimental methods, strong predictive theories, peer review, or widely accepted measurement practices are established.
প্রোটোসায়েন্স বলতে জ্ঞান-বিকাশের এমন একটি প্রাথমিক/সূচনাপর্ব বোঝায়, যেখানে মানুষ প্রকৃতি অনুসন্ধানে কিছুটা বৈজ্ঞানিক ধাঁচের পদ্ধতি (পর্যবেক্ষণ, শ্রেণিবিন্যাস, অনুমান) ব্যবহার করে, কিন্তু আধুনিক বিজ্ঞানের মতো মান্য পরীক্ষণ-পদ্ধতি, কঠোরতা, পূর্বাভাসক্ষম তত্ত্ব, সহকর্মী-পর্যালোচনা বা সর্বজনস্বীকৃত পরিমাপ-রীতি এখনও গড়ে ওঠে না।
