লাতিন praematurus শব্দ থেকে উদ্ভূত, অর্থ ‘সময়ের আগেই পরিপক্ব/পাকা’; prae (‘আগে’) + maturus (‘পরিপক্ব’) থেকে গঠিত, পরে ইংরেজিতে prematurity হিসেবে প্রচলিত।
Definition
Prematurity is the condition of occurring or being done before the proper or expected time; it commonly refers to a baby being born before full term (typically before 37 weeks of pregnancy), and can also mean showing behavior, judgments, or development that is too early or not ready.
অকালতা (প্রিম্যাচিউরিটি) হলো কোনো কিছু যথাযথ বা প্রত্যাশিত সময়ের আগেই ঘটে যাওয়া বা করে ফেলার অবস্থা; এটি সাধারণত পূর্ণগর্ভকাল শেষ হওয়ার আগে (সাধারণত গর্ভাবস্থার ৩৭ সপ্তাহের আগে) শিশুর জন্মকে বোঝায়, এবং আচরণ, সিদ্ধান্ত বা বিকাশ সময়ের আগেই/অসময়ে প্রকাশ পাওয়াকেও বোঝাতে পারে।
