লাতিন praedatio (“লুণ্ঠন/লুট”), praedari (“লুণ্ঠন করা”) এবং praeda (“লুণ্ঠিত সম্পদ/শিকার”) থেকে উদ্ভূত।
Definition
Predation is (1) an ecological interaction where a predator hunts, kills, and eats prey, helping shape food chains and population balance; and (2) more generally, any aggressive exploitation such as plundering or taking advantage of others.
Predation হলো (১) পরিবেশতাত্ত্বিক একটি সম্পর্ক যেখানে শিকারি প্রাণী শিকারকে ধাওয়া করে ধরে, হত্যা করে এবং খায়—এতে খাদ্যশৃঙ্খল ও জনসংখ্যার ভারসাম্য প্রভাবিত হয়; এবং (২) বিস্তৃত অর্থে যেকোনো আক্রমণাত্মক শোষণ/লুণ্ঠন বা অন্যের ক্ষতি করে সুবিধা নেওয়ার কাজ।
