From French pot-pourri, literally 'rotten pot' (originally a Spanish-influenced term applied to a stew), later used for a mixture or medley and for dried scented mixtures.
ফরাসি pot-pourri থেকে এসেছে, আক্ষরিক অর্থ 'পচা/বাসি হাঁড়ি' (প্রথমে স্প্যানিশ-প্রভাবিত এক শব্দ হিসেবে স্ট্যু/ঝোলজাত খাবার বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত), পরে বিভিন্ন কিছুর মিশ্রণ/মেডলি এবং শুকনো সুগন্ধি মিশ্রণের অর্থে প্রচলিত হয়।
Definition
A potpourri is a varied mixture or assortment of different things (ideas, items, topics), and it can also mean a decorative mix of dried, pleasantly scented plant materials used to perfume a room; by extension it may refer to a medley of music or a miscellaneous collection of writings.
Potpourri বলতে বিভিন্ন জিনিসের (ধারণা, বস্তু, বিষয়) নানা রকম মিশ্রণ/সমাহার বোঝায়; এটি ঘর সুগন্ধি করতে সাজানো পাত্রে রাখা শুকনো সুগন্ধি উদ্ভিজ্জ উপাদানের মিশ্রণকেও বোঝায়; প্রসারিত অর্থে এটি গানের/সঙ্গীতের মিশ্র সংকলন বা নানা ধরনের লেখার সংকলনও হতে পারে।
