From French pointilliste, derived from pointille (“small dot”), from point (“point, dot”), ultimately from Latin punctum (“a point, prick”).
ফরাসি pointilliste থেকে এসেছে, যা pointille (“ছোট বিন্দু”) শব্দ থেকে; তা আবার point (“বিন্দু/পয়েন্ট”) থেকে, এবং শেষ পর্যন্ত লাতিন punctum (“বিন্দু, খোঁচা”) থেকে উদ্ভূত।
Definition
A pointillist is an artist who creates images by applying many small, distinct dots of color so that the viewer’s eye blends them into forms and tones from a distance (the method is called pointillism). The word can also describe works or styles that use this dot-based technique.
পয়েন্টিলিস্ট হলেন এমন একজন শিল্পী যিনি অসংখ্য ছোট ছোট, আলাদা রঙের বিন্দু ব্যবহার করে ছবি আঁকেন, যাতে দূর থেকে দেখলে দর্শকের চোখে সেগুলো মিশে আকার ও টোন তৈরি করে (এই পদ্ধতিকে বলে পয়েন্টিলিজম)। শব্দটি বিন্দু-ভিত্তিক এই কৌশল ব্যবহারকারী কাজ বা শৈলী বোঝাতেও ব্যবহৃত হয়।
