From petticoat + -ing. Petticoat is from Middle English pety cote (“small coat”), from Old French petit (“small”) + cote (“coat”).

Definition
Petticoating refers to (1) the practice of wearing a petticoat or putting someone into a petticoat, and (2) more broadly (often disapprovingly) the idea of being dominated by or linked to women or women’s influence (from the word petticoat).
পেটিকোটিং বলতে (১) পেটিকোট পরা বা কাউকে পেটিকোট পরানো/পরিধান করানো বোঝায়, এবং (২) বিস্তৃত অর্থে (প্রায়ই নিন্দাসূচকভাবে) নারীদের পোশাক বা নারীর প্রভাবের সঙ্গে যুক্ত হওয়া/নারীর দ্বারা প্রভাবিত বা নিয়ন্ত্রিত হওয়াকে বোঝায় (petticoat শব্দ থেকে উদ্ভূত)।
