Definition

In botany, petiolate describes a leaf (or leaflet) that has a distinct petiole (leaf-stalk) connecting the blade to the stem, rather than being directly attached (sessile).

উদ্ভিদবিদ্যায় petiolate বলতে এমন পাতা (বা পত্রক) বোঝায় যার একটি স্পষ্ট পেটিওল/বৃন্ত (পাতার ডাঁটা) থাকে এবং যা পাতার ফলককে কাণ্ডের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করে; অর্থাৎ পাতা সরাসরি কাণ্ডে লাগানো (sessile) নয়।
