From the verb peptize (early 20th century), formed from pept- (from Greek peptos ‘cooked, digested’, related to pepsis ‘digestion’) + -ize; in chemistry, used for converting a precipitate into a colloid.
‘পেপ্টাইজ’ ক্রিয়া থেকে (বিশ শতকের শুরুর দিক), pept- (গ্রিক peptos ‘সেদ্ধ/পরিপাকিত’, pepsis ‘পরিপাক’-এর সঙ্গে সম্পর্কিত) + -ize যোগে গঠিত; রসায়নে তলানি/অবক্ষেপকে কলোয়েডে রূপান্তরের অর্থে ব্যবহৃত।
Definition
Converted from a coagulated/aggregated state into a stable colloidal dispersion by adding a peptizing agent or by suitable treatment, so that very fine particles stay suspended rather than settling.
