From Middle English “peoplen” (to populate), from Old French “peupler”, from Latin “populus” (people).
মধ্য ইংরেজি “peoplen” (জনবসতি গড়া/জনপূর্ণ করা) থেকে; তা পুরাতন ফরাসি “peupler” হয়ে লাতিন “populus” (জনগণ/মানুষ) থেকে উদ্ভূত।
Definition
Used to describe a place that has people living in it, or the result of settling/inhabiting an area; also the past participle form of the verb “people” meaning to populate or inhabit.
কোনো স্থানে মানুষ বসবাস করছে—এমন অবস্থা বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়; অথবা ‘people’ ক্রিয়ার past participle হিসেবে কোনো এলাকা বসতি স্থাপন করে মানুষে পূর্ণ/আবাসিত করা বোঝায়।
