From Latin parturiens, present participle of parturire (“to be in labour; to bring forth”), from partus (“childbirth”), from parere (“to bring forth, bear”).
লাতিন parturiens থেকে (ক্রিয়া parturire-এর বর্তমান ক্রিয়াবাচক বিশেষণ), অর্থ ‘প্রসববেদনায় থাকা/জন্ম দেওয়া’; উৎস partus ‘প্রসব’, এবং parere ‘জন্ম দেওয়া/উৎপন্ন করা’।
Definition
Used in medical/clinical contexts to describe a female (human or animal) that is in labour, close to giving birth, or has just given birth; as a noun it can mean the labouring mother, and less commonly a substance that helps induce or ease labour. It may also be used figuratively for something ‘about to produce’ a new idea or product.
