Origin & History
From partheno- (from Greek parthenos ‘virgin’) + -gen (from Greek -genēs / -genēs ‘born, produced’), coined in scientific usage for organisms arising by parthenogenesis.
গ্রিক parthenos (‘কুমারী/কন্যা’) থেকে partheno- এবং গ্রিক -genēs (অর্থ ‘জন্ম/উৎপন্ন’) থেকে -gen—পার্থেনোজেনেসিস দ্বারা উৎপন্ন জীব বোঝাতে বৈজ্ঞানিক পরিভাষায় গঠিত শব্দ।
Definition
A parthenogen is an individual organism that develops from an unfertilized egg, produced through parthenogenesis (as in some insects, reptiles, and plants).
পার্থেনোজেন হলো এমন একটি স্বতন্ত্র জীব, যা নিষেক ছাড়াই (অর্থাৎ অ-নিষিক্ত ডিম্বাণু থেকে) পার্থেনোজেনেসিস প্রক্রিয়ায় বিকশিত হয়—যেমন কিছু পোকামাকড়, সরীসৃপ ও উদ্ভিদে দেখা যায়।
