Modern English formation from parent + -ing; the verb ‘to parent’ is attested from the 17th century, while ‘parenting’ as a noun became common in the 20th century.
আধুনিক ইংরেজিতে parent শব্দের সঙ্গে -ing যোগ করে গঠিত; ‘to parent’ (ক্রিয়া) ১৭শ শতক থেকে পাওয়া যায়, আর ‘parenting’ (বিশেষ্য) ২০শ শতকে বেশি প্রচলিত হয়।
Definition
Parenting refers to the responsibilities and practices involved in raising a child—providing care, guidance, discipline, education, and emotional support—from early life through adulthood. As a verb sense (“to parent”), it means to act as a parent or to raise/rear a child.
‘Parenting’ বলতে শিশুকে লালন-পালন করা, যত্ন নেওয়া, দিকনির্দেশনা দেওয়া, শাসন-শৃঙ্খলা ও শিক্ষা প্রদান, এবং মানসিক সহায়তা দেওয়ার মতো দায়িত্ব ও প্রক্রিয়াকে বোঝায়—শৈশব থেকে প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক হওয়া পর্যন্ত। ক্রিয়াপদ হিসেবে (“to parent”) এর অর্থ হলো অভিভাবকের মতো ভূমিকা পালন করা বা শিশুকে বড় করে তোলা।
