Definition
An orthotic is a medical device such as a brace, insole, or splint that supports or corrects the position and function of a body part (often the foot, ankle, knee, or spine). As an adjective, it means related to such devices; in Greek typography it can also mean an upright letterform rather than a cursive style.
অর্থোটিক হলো একটি চিকিৎসাবিষয়ক সহায়ক যন্ত্র (যেমন ব্রেস, ইনসোল/জুতার তলানি, বা স্প্লিন্ট) যা শরীরের কোনো অংশকে সমর্থন দেয়, সঠিক সারিবদ্ধতা বজায় রাখে, সোজা করে, বা কার্যকারিতা উন্নত করে (সাধারণত পা, গোড়ালি, হাঁটু, বা মেরুদণ্ডে)। বিশেষণ হিসেবে এটি এসব যন্ত্র/অর্থোটিকস-সম্পর্কিত বোঝায়; গ্রিক টাইপোগ্রাফিতেও কখনও কখনও এটি কার্সিভ নয়—উpright অক্ষররূপ বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
