Definition
In coordinate geometry, ordinates are the second values (usually y-values) that locate points relative to fixed axes; the term can also refer to the vertical axis/line on which those values are shown. As a verb form (from 'ordinate'), it can mean to ordain someone as a priest/bishop or to arrange items in an ordered alignment.
স্থানাঙ্ক জ্যামিতিতে ordinates বলতে কোনো বিন্দুর দ্বিতীয় মান (সাধারণত y-মান) বোঝায়, যা নির্দিষ্ট অক্ষদ্বয়ের তুলনায় বিন্দুর অবস্থান নির্দেশ করে; শব্দটি কখনও সেই উল্লম্ব অক্ষ/রেখা (y-অক্ষ)কেও বোঝায় যেখানে এই মানগুলো দেখানো হয়। ক্রিয়া রূপে (ordinate থেকে) এর অর্থ হতে পারে কাউকে পুরোহিত/বিশপ হিসেবে ধর্মীয়ভাবে অভিষিক্ত করা বা কোনো বস্তুসমূহকে সারিবদ্ধ/সুশৃঙ্খলভাবে সাজানো।
