From Neo-Latin oosphera, formed from Greek ōón (“egg”) + sphaira (“sphere”), referring to the spherical egg cell in certain plants and algae.
নব্য-লাতিন oosphera থেকে; গ্রিক ōón (অর্থ “ডিম”) + sphaira (অর্থ “গোলক/গোলাকার বস্তু”)—কিছু উদ্ভিদ ও শৈবালে গোলাকার ডিম্বকোষকে নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত।
Definition
An oosphere is the non-motile female reproductive cell (egg cell) found especially in seedless plants, many algae, and some fungi; it lies in a structure such as an archegonium (in bryophytes and ferns) or within the ovule in seed plants, and after fusion with a male gamete it becomes the zygote and begins embryo development.
ওওস্ফিয়ার হলো উদ্ভিদ (বিশেষত বীজবিহীন উদ্ভিদ), বহু শৈবাল এবং কিছু ছত্রাকে পাওয়া অচল স্ত্রী জননকোষ (ডিম্বকোষ); এটি আর্কেগোনিয়াম (ব্রায়োফাইট ও ফার্নে) অথবা বীজধারী উদ্ভিদে ডিম্বকে (ovule) অবস্থিত থাকে, এবং পুরুষ গ্যামেটের সাথে সংযোজিত হয়ে জাইগোট তৈরি করে ভ্রূণ গঠনের সূচনা করে।
