Coined in the 1840s by German chemist Karl von Reichenbach from the name of the Norse god Odin (also spelled Od) + -yle; used in writings on the so-called Odic force.
১৮৪০-এর দশকে জার্মান রসায়নবিদ কার্ল ফন রাইখেনবাখ ‘ওডিন’ (নর্স দেবতা; Od নামেও লেখা হয়) নাম থেকে -yle প্রত্যয় যোগ করে শব্দটি গঠন করেন; কথিত ‘ওডিক ফোর্স’ বিষয়ক লেখালেখিতে এটি ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Odyle (also spelled odic force) is a speculative, now largely obsolete concept proposed in the 19th century to explain phenomena such as magnetism, mesmerism, and supposed life-energy sensations.
