একবচন odorant থেকে বহুবচন odorants; odor + -ant (‘কর্মকারী/এজেন্ট’ অর্থবোধক প্রত্যয়) দ্বারা গঠিত; odor শব্দটি ল্যাটিন odor (‘গন্ধ’) থেকে এসেছে।
Definition
Odorants are substances that give off a noticeable smell; they are often added to otherwise odorless products (especially natural gas) so leaks can be detected quickly for safety.
ওডোর্যান্ট হলো এমন পদার্থ যাদের স্পষ্ট/লক্ষণীয় গন্ধ থাকে; নিরাপত্তার কারণে অনেক সময় গন্ধহীন বস্তুতে (বিশেষ করে প্রাকৃতিক গ্যাসে) এগুলো যোগ করা হয়, যাতে লিক হলে দ্রুত শনাক্ত করা যায়।
