মধ্য ইংরেজি occasion থেকে; তা পুরাতন ফরাসি occasion এবং লাতিন occasiō (‘পতন/ঘটা/সুযোগ’) থেকে এসেছে; লাতিন occidere (‘পড়ে যাওয়া/অস্ত যাওয়া; ঘটে যাওয়া’) ধাতু থেকে উদ্ভূত।
Definition
Occasions refers to (1) particular times when something happens, (2) special events or functions, (3) suitable opportunities/chances, or (4) reasons/need for something; as a verb (from 'occasion'), it means to cause or bring about.
Occasions বলতে বোঝায় (১) কোনো কিছু ঘটার নির্দিষ্ট সময়/ক্ষেত্র, (২) বিশেষ অনুষ্ঠান বা উপলক্ষ, (৩) উপযুক্ত সুযোগ, অথবা (৪) কোনো কিছুর কারণ/প্রয়োজন; ক্রিয়া হিসেবে (occasion থেকে) এর অর্থ হলো ‘ঘটানো/সৃষ্টি করা’।
