Origin & History

From Middle English notion, from Old French notion, from Latin nōtiō (“a knowing, acquaintance; concept”), from nōscere (“to know”).

মধ্য ইংরেজি notion থেকে; তা পুরোনো ফরাসি notion হয়ে লাতিন nōtiō (অর্থ: জানা/পরিচিতি; ধারণা) থেকে এসেছে; যা এসেছে লাতিন nōscere (অর্থ: জানা) ধাতু থেকে।

Definition

Notions are ideas or beliefs someone has in mind; the word can also mean small items used for sewing (e.g., buttons, zippers), and in some contexts it refers to an intention or inclination to do something.

Notions বলতে সাধারণত কারও মনের ধারণা/ভাবনা/বিশ্বাস বোঝায়; শব্দটি সেলাই-সংক্রান্ত ছোটখাটো জিনিসপত্র (যেমন বোতাম, জিপার) বোঝাতেও ব্যবহৃত হয়; আবার কিছু প্রসঙ্গে কোনো কাজ করার ইচ্ছা বা প্রবণতাও বোঝায়।
