Formed in English by the negative prefix “non-” meaning “not” plus “polytopal,” which is derived from “polytope” (from Greek “polys” meaning “many” and “topos” meaning “place” or “region”), with the adjectival suffix “-al.” Thus, it literally means “not polytopal.”

Definition
In mathematics, especially in geometry and polyhedral combinatorics, “nonpolytopal” describes an object (often a graph or combinatorial structure) that cannot be realized as the edge-graph or face-structure of any convex polytope in any Euclidean dimension. In other words, there is no convex polytope whose vertices, edges, or faces correspond to that structure.
