From Latin nāsālis (“of the nose”), from nāsus (“nose”); plural formed with -s.
লাতিন nāsālis (অর্থ ‘নাক-সম্পর্কিত’) শব্দ থেকে, যা nāsus (‘নাক’) থেকে এসেছে; বহুবচন গঠিত হয়েছে ইংরেজি -s যোগে।
Definition
Nasals are things related to the nose, especially (a) nasal sounds made when the soft palate is lowered so air passes through the nose (e.g., /m/, /n/, /ŋ/), and (b) the paired nasal bones forming the bridge of the nose.
Nasals বলতে নাক-সম্পর্কিত বিষয় বোঝায়, বিশেষ করে (ক) নাসিক ধ্বনি—যেখানে নরম তালু (soft palate) নামিয়ে দিলে বাতাস নাক দিয়ে বের হয় (যেমন /m/, /n/, /ŋ/), এবং (খ) নাসাল বোনস—নাকের ওপরের অংশ/ব্রিজ গঠনকারী যুগ্ম অস্থি।
