From Turkish nargile (also narghile), ultimately from Persian nārgīl ‘coconut’ (from Sanskrit nārikela), referring to early water pipes sometimes made from coconut shells.
তুর্কি ‘nargile’ (এবং ‘narghile’) শব্দ থেকে; এর উৎস শেষ পর্যন্ত ফারসি ‘nārgīl’ (‘নারকেল’)—যা সংস্কৃত ‘nārikela’ থেকে এসেছে; প্রাচীনকালে কখনও নারকেলের খোল দিয়ে জল-ধূমপান নল বানানো হতো, সেই সূত্রে নামটি প্রচলিত।

Nargile is a type of water pipe in which smoke passes through water before being inhaled; it is commonly used to smoke flavored tobacco in parts of the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia.
নারগিলে হলো এক ধরনের জল-ধূমপান নল, যেখানে ধোঁয়া টানার আগে পানির মধ্য দিয়ে যায়; এটি মধ্যপ্রাচ্য, উত্তর আফ্রিকা এবং দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার কিছু অঞ্চলে (প্রায়ই স্বাদযুক্ত) তামাক সেবনে সাধারণভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
