Definition
A mythicist is someone who advocates mythicism—the view that certain figures commonly regarded as historical are better understood as mythological or literary creations, or that evidence for their historical existence is insufficient. The term is often used in debates about early religious history, especially regarding whether Jesus of Nazareth was a historical person.
‘মিথিসিস্ট’ হলো এমন একজন ব্যক্তি যিনি ‘মিথিসিজম’ মতবাদ সমর্থন করেন—অর্থাৎ সাধারণভাবে যাদের ঐতিহাসিক ব্যক্তি ধরা হয়, তাদেরকে মূলত পৌরাণিক/সাহিত্যিক নির্মাণ হিসেবে ব্যাখ্যা করেন, বা মনে করেন তাদের ঐতিহাসিক অস্তিত্বের প্রমাণ অপর্যাপ্ত। শব্দটি প্রায়ই প্রাচীন ধর্মীয় ইতিহাস নিয়ে আলোচনায়, বিশেষ করে যিশু নাসরতীয়ের ঐতিহাসিকতা প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
