Origin & History
From modalism + -ist; ‘modalism’ comes from Latin modus (“manner, mode”) and developed as a theological term for the doctrine that God is one person appearing in different modes.
‘মোডালিজম’ শব্দের সঙ্গে -ist প্রত্যয় যোগে গঠিত; ‘মোডালিজম’ লাতিন modus (অর্থ: ‘পদ্ধতি/রীতি/রূপ’) থেকে এসেছে এবং ধর্মতত্ত্বে এক ঈশ্বরের বিভিন্ন রূপে প্রকাশের মতবাদ বোঝাতে পরিভাষা হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Definition
In Christian theology, a modalist is someone who teaches or believes that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are not distinct persons but different modes or manifestations of one God.
খ্রিস্টীয় ধর্মতত্ত্বে ‘মোডালিস্ট’ হল এমন ব্যক্তি যিনি মনে করেন/শেখান যে পিতা, পুত্র ও পবিত্র আত্মা আলাদা ব্যক্তি নন; বরং এক ঈশ্বরের বিভিন্ন ‘রূপ’ বা প্রকাশ (মোড/মোডালিটি)।
