২০শ শতকের মাঝামাঝি সময়ে meta- (অর্থ: ‘অতিক্রম করে/নিজের সম্পর্কে’) + fiction (কল্পকাহিনি) থেকে গঠিত; সাহিত্যসমালোচনায়, বিশেষত উত্তর-আধুনিক সাহিত্যের আলোচনায়, শব্দটি বেশি প্রচলিত হয়।
Definition
Metafiction is fiction that highlights or comments on the fact that it is a constructed story, often breaking the “fourth wall,” referring to the author or reader, or exposing narrative techniques.
মেটাফিকশন হলো এমন কল্পকাহিনি যা নিজেরই নির্মিত/কল্পিত রূপ সম্পর্কে পাঠকের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করে—অনেক সময় ‘ফোর্থ ওয়াল’ ভাঙে, লেখক/পাঠকের উল্লেখ করে, বা আখ্যানরীতির কৌশল উন্মোচন করে।
