From Greek lyo- (from lyein, “to loosen/dissolve”) + -phobia (“fear/aversion”), formed in scientific usage to describe aversion to a solvent.
গ্রিক lyo- (lyein থেকে, অর্থ “ঢিলা করা/দ্রবীভূত করা”) + -phobia (“ভয়/বিমুখতা”) থেকে উদ্ভূত; দ্রাবকের প্রতি বিমুখতা বোঝাতে বৈজ্ঞানিক পরিভাষা হিসেবে গঠিত।
Definition
Lyophobia is the property of certain substances—especially lyophobic colloids—showing little or no affinity for the dispersion medium (often water), so they are difficult to wet, disperse, or stabilize without special treatment (e.g., surfactants or protective colloids).
লায়োফোবিয়া হলো কিছু পদার্থের—বিশেষ করে লায়োফোবিক কলোয়েডের—বিস্তার মাধ্যম (সাধারণত পানি)-এর প্রতি কম বা শূন্য আকর্ষণ/অনুরাগ থাকার ধর্ম; ফলে এগুলো সহজে ভিজতে, ছড়াতে বা স্থিতিশীল হতে চায় না এবং প্রায়ই সার্ফ্যাক্ট্যান্ট বা প্রোটেক্টিভ কলোয়েডের মতো বিশেষ ব্যবস্থার প্রয়োজন হয়।
