From hemi- (meaning ‘half’) + colectomy (‘surgical removal of the colon’), built from Greek kólon (‘colon’) and -ectomy (‘excision, surgical removal’).
hemi- (অর্থ ‘অর্ধেক’) + colectomy (‘কোলন শল্যচিকিৎসায় অপসারণ’) থেকে গঠিত; colectomy শব্দটি গ্রিক kólon (‘বৃহদান্ত্র/কোলন’) এবং -ectomy (‘অঙ্গচ্ছেদন/শল্য অপসারণ’) থেকে উদ্ভূত।
Definition
Hemicolectomy is an operation in which roughly half of the colon (either the right or left side) is removed, commonly for colon cancer, severe diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, or bowel obstruction; the remaining bowel is then reconnected (anastomosis) or, in some cases, brought out as a stoma.
হেমিকোলেকটমি হলো এমন একটি শল্যচিকিৎসা যাতে বৃহদান্ত্রের (কোলন) প্রায় অর্ধেক অংশ—ডান বা বাম পাশ—অপসারণ করা হয়; সাধারণত কোলন ক্যান্সার, তীব্র ডাইভার্টিকুলাইটিস, ইনফ্ল্যামেটরি বাওয়েল ডিজিজ, বা অন্ত্রের অবরোধের ক্ষেত্রে করা হয়; এরপর অবশিষ্ট অন্ত্রকে আবার জোড়া দেওয়া হয় (অ্যানাস্টোমোসিস) বা কিছু ক্ষেত্রে স্টোমা হিসেবে বাইরে বের করে দেওয়া হয়।
