লাতিন haecceitas (‘এই-নির্দিষ্টতা’/thisness) থেকে উদ্ভূত; মধ্যযুগীয় স্কলাস্টিক দর্শনে (ডান্স স্কটাসের সঙ্গে প্রায়শই সংশ্লিষ্ট) গঠিত শব্দ, পরে ইংরেজি বিশেষণসূচক প্রত্যয় -ic যুক্ত হয়ে haecceitic হয়েছে।
Definition
Haecceitic describes something that concerns haecceity—the principle or property that makes an individual exactly the particular thing it is. In philosophy and metaphysics, it contrasts with qualitative or general features (like being red or being human) by focusing on non-qualitative individuality (“thisness”).
Haecceitic বলতে বোঝায় ‘হেকসিয়েটি’ (haecceity)-সম্পর্কিত বিষয়—যে নীতি/গুণ কোনো সত্তাকে ঠিক সেই নির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু করে তোলে। দর্শন ও অধিবিদ্যায় এটি গুণগত বা সাধারণ বৈশিষ্ট্যের (যেমন লাল হওয়া, মানুষ হওয়া) বিপরীতে ‘এই-নির্দিষ্টতা’ বা ‘এই-হওয়া’ (thisness)–কে গুরুত্ব দেয়।
