Derived from the noun and verb 'footprint' (foot + print), with the past tense suffix '-ed', used literally and metaphorically from the 20th century onward.
'ফুটপ্রিন্ট' (পা + ছাপ) শব্দ থেকে উদ্ভূত, যার সঙ্গে অতীতকাল নির্দেশক '-ed' যুক্ত হয়েছে; বিংশ শতাব্দী থেকে আক্ষরিক ও রূপক উভয় অর্থে ব্যবহৃত।
